The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development says the start of firearm deer season actually comes with an uptick in illegal venison sales online and the department is issuing a warning about buying venison and venison products from the world wide web.
MDARD says buyers assume the meat is licensed and inspected but it isn’t always true. Venison sold legally will have a label with a list of ingredients, weight and the name, address and contact information for the business that processed the product.
