Former Michigan House Speaker Rick Johnson has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison for his part in a bribery scheme while acting as the chair of the Michigan Medical Licensing Board. Along with jail time, 70-year-old Johnson will have to pay $50,000 in fines and give back $110,000 he accepted in bribes.
Investigators say Johnson accepted the money along with flights and sex in return for his votes on license applications and information on other applicants.
One businesswoman involved in the corruption was sentenced to more than two years in prison while two others face sentencing in mid-October.
