Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The City of Jackson is offering an opportunity for residents to dispose of yard waste and general household trash on Saturday, October 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Department of Public Works (DPW) Operations Center. The City says this event is free and open to all City residents.

The DPW Operations Center, 521 Water St., should be entered using the intersection of Water and E. Morrell Streets. Drivers will be directed to drop off zones in a drive-through format and are asked to assist DPW workers with the removal of items from vehicles as they are able.

The following is a list of items that will NOT be accepted:

  • Batteries
  • Tires
  • Kitchen garbage
  • Paint
  • Liquid waste
  • Appliances that contain or have contained freon
  • Hazardous waste
  • Electronics
  • Motor oil

Because this event is funded by the City, it is open only to City residents.
