Jackson, Mich. — The Summit to Reduce Violence will take place this Friday, April 21 at the Jackson College Potter Center, and the community is invited.

Registration for this free program begins at 7:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 8:15 a.m. and ending around 1:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and Michigan State University Professor & Director of the MSU School of Criminal Justice, Chris Melde, is the keynote speaker.

This 2nd annual summit will bring community voices together with law enforcement, members of the judicial system, researchers and advocates to address violence and its impact on Jackson.

Jackson mayor Daniel Mahoney recently joined WKHM to provide an update on this event, which is a “solutions-focused, multidisciplinary gathering of professionals and community members working together to tackle the issues of violence in Jackson,” according to the event website.
