In a press release, Jackson County Sheriff Gary Schuette shared that on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022, Deputies from the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff found 41 year old inmate Stephion Demeco of Michigan Center breathing shallowly in his isolation cell. Deputies immediately called 911 and began CPR on Demeco. Jackson City Rescue and Jackson Community Ambulance responded to the jail and continued life support efforts but were unsuccessful as the inmate died.
The Jackson Police Department and Jackson County Medical Examiner were called to the Jackson County Jail to investigate the death. An autopsy was completed, and his death was determined to be of natural causes.
