65 year-old David Panici of Clark Lake, MI and Marco Island, FL was killed in a traffic accident Wednesday evening, March 2, in Collier County, Florida.

Panici and his wife Mardi were stopped at a stop sign when their car was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by an 88 year-old man from Naples, FL, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Mardi Panici was treated for non life threatening injuries.  The 88 year-old man, not identified, suffered serious injuries.

David Panici was a former athletic director at Lansing Eastern High School and a longtime high school sports official, very well known in the Jackson/Lansing area.

Dave is the brother in law of Lumen Christi football coach Herb Brogan, and Titan Nation is grief stricken over the tragic loss.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
