I knew that I belonged in the medical field because I have always been interested in how the body works and the why of when things go wrong. Physical therapy was the perfect profession for me to do this. I have worked in Outpatient Physical Therapy at Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists for 12 years now and absolutely love it! I love when I get patients that come to me in pain and in a few weeks they are painfree and transitioning to a program on their own. The amount of time I get with the patients allows me to really connect with them and learn about who they are. I made the transition to management about 6 yrs into my career at ORS. I have a team of about 12 people that I lead and they are a joy to work with. There is not a day that goes by where we are not joking and laughing together. The atmosphere we create is really enjoyed by the patients as it takes their mind off their pain. Being in management initially was a bit nerve-wracking but the owners make themselves available whenever I need them. They have truly helped my grow in my leadership skills.
I made the decision to apply at Spring Arbor Fire Department a few years ago as I wanted to do more for the community that I live int. I am currently in the Jackson County Fire Academy. It is very physical and hard work! The guys in Spring Arbor are great. Every one of them has offered to help me and have been very helpful on the runs I have been on. I am not one that likes to stand around, so they know to put me work. Chief McEldowney has been very motivating along the way.
Outside of work, I have two kids, age 9 and 11. They keep me very busy. In normal times, we like to do active things like trampoline parks, roller skating, and ice skating. They are my world. <3
For my stress reliver, I like to run and will participate in a few 5Ks a year as well as a 12 miles obstacle course mud run with a few people from ORS.
