Police are investigating a crash that killed one person on westbound I-96 near the Stockbridge exit Friday night, shutting traffic down for about 5 hours.

It happened at around 6:30PM. A westbound vehicle struck the bridge embankment and came to a stop a few hundred yards away in the median. Shortly after, the driver was struck by a passing vehicle.

Police are trying to determine if the driver of the vehicle was ejected when it they hit the embankment, or if they exited the vehicle themselves.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
