Michigan State Police have arrested a Florida man in connection with fraud at an interactive banking machine in Jackson County.

Investigators say True Community Credit Union reported suspicious activity at one of its Interactive Teller Machines — ATMs with live video chat. The next day, more fraudulent withdrawals occurred, with a significant amount of cash taken.

Police identified a 32-year-old suspect from Miami Gardens and tracked down his vehicle. He was arrested before leaving the state and is now in the Jackson County Jail, facing multiple fraud charges.

Authorities warn of a scam where callers posing as the credit union claim your account has fraudulent charges. They may ask for card or Social Security numbers — don’t fall for it. Hang up and contact the financial institution directly.

Some stolen money has been recovered, but the investigation continues. Anyone with information can call MSP’s Jackson Post at 517-780-4580.
