A 27-year-old Jackson man is the suspect who was arrested after breaking into Schupbach’s Sporting Goods on W. Pearl Street at approximately 11:45pm Wednesday night. According to the business, the Jackson Police Department responded in just 53 seconds. Director of Police and Fire Services Elmer Hitt told WKHM how officers handled the situation they were presented with at the scene.

The quick response time that allowed officers to be able to apprehend the suspect as he was leaving was especially crucial given the potentially lethal nature of what was being stolen.

Schupbach’s Sporting Goods thanked the Jackson Police Department for their swift response time, and also thanked Michigan State Police for assisting in a social media statement. The business told WKHM that they were thrilled with the actions of law enforcement regarding this incident, and that the only damages were suffered by a window and display cases.
