A grand opening reception is being held today (10/22) for a new shared office space called Think and Mortar, located at 732  West Michigan Avenue. Laura Dwyer Schlecte said they converted the old Klutz home into this new endeavor.

“We own a few homes between West Avenue and downtown in Washington and Michigan and one of them we’ve converted 732 West Michigan Avenue the old Klutz home we converted it to shared office space and it’s the company’s called Think and Mortar. What do you like that you like that? A shared office space and makes you think it’s a come in and think and it’s in a nice brick beautiful Clair Allen front part of that house is a Clair Allen.”

“Nice crib?”

“Yeah it is a nice crib there’s it’s got an interesting history too.”

“I bet it does.”

“Its contemporary but this is all business stop business yeah we’ve got she’s a photographer yeah he Autumn photography is in there is currently our first tenant in it it’s brand new we’re having our grand opening tomorrow night from 5 to 7 so if anybody wants to come see this really cool building come on check it out.”

“Tuesday night.”

“Yep, we are I’m passionate about restoring these historic homes so we have tried to stay true to the original character of the house.”

Schlecte said the property comes with a little “character”.

“General character of the house. Should I mention it?”

“I don’t know?”

“Yeah probably ghosts in their, I haven’t felt her. but one of Kate’s clients has spiritual abilities and so that there was a ghost in there so I asked Cheryl Klute the previous owner and showed me the whole Lowdown.”

“What’s the deal?”

“Well it’s a girl by the name of Laura Sarah Livermore and if you know anything about legal descriptions in the city Jackson there’s a subdivision act and it’s the Livermore to Edition and that and I’m not quite sure where that is but I know I’ve seen that on Deeds but anyhow Livermore was a an attorney and it’s his daughter.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah.”

“She never got out.”

“She did not she work there they lived their lives Livermore live there
Livermore with a partner with higbee and we have a street named.”

“She didn’t live there long is she was 10?”

“She did not.”

Schlecte said uncapped taxes is keeping people form moving.

“We got landlord conference coming up in April.”

“Laura gets very bored and so.”

“I like to create and we’re I’m I want to do a Aging in place Conference next September.”

“Like I’m doing right now?”

“Yeah?”

“Right before your eyes.”

“We’ll have to wheel you out when you retire.”

“So what’s so the Market’s crazy here?”

“The market is just weird.”

“It’s just weird?”

“It’s like you really it’s because people aren’t selling just if they’re selling that’s because they’re aged out of their home for whatever reason it’s too big or they want to condo or when they’re taxes on Camp it gets scary.”
