Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Residents of Jackson will have a unique opportunity to connect with local firefighters and explore the inner workings of the Central Fire Station. The Jackson Fire Department is hosting an Open House on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 1-5 p.m. at the Central Fire Station, located at 518 N. Jackson St.

This family-friendly event promises an exciting afternoon filled with educational activities and hands-on experiences. Visitors can take guided tours of fire trucks, watch live demonstrations, and learn valuable fire safety tips. It’s also a chance to meet the firefighters who protect the community and ask them questions about their experiences as first responders.

Deputy Fire Chief Tim Gonzales highlighted the significance of this event, noting it’s the department’s first open house in 10 years. “Our crews are excited to welcome the community and give them a behind-the-scenes look at what we do to keep Jackson safe,” Gonzales said. “With Fire Safety Week happening, it’s the perfect opportunity for families to refresh their knowledge on fire safety.”

The event is free and open to all. Parking is available behind the fire station off United Way.
