Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The City of Jackson will begin its annual Fall Hydrant Flushing program on Monday, September 23. Flushing starts in the southwest section of the city and wraps up in the northeast by October 8.

The Department of Public Works says this routine maintenance helps clean pipes, clear iron and sediment, and refresh the water system. Residents in Jackson and nearby Summit, Blackman and Leoni townships may notice temporary water discoloration and lower water pressure during flushing. The city assures the water is safe to drink, but advises against washing clothes during this time.

Flushing happens between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. For more details, check the city’s website below or call the DPW.
