Jackson, Mich. (WKHM, Greg O’Connor) — Tragedy in Napoleon Saturday as 83-year-old Karol Kay DeGraw, Napoleon Township resident, was killed in a gyroplane crash at a private air strip on her property.

Details of the accident are being investigated by the FFA and the National Transportation Safety Board, along with Napoleon Township Police, to determine a cause.

Napoleon Township Police Captain Chris Jacobson thanked the many agencies that responded to the scene including Napoleon and Columbia Fire Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Jackson County Medical Examiner,  Summit and Grass Lake Fire Departments, and Blackman/Leoni Public Safety.

Captain Jacobson also offered thoughts and prayers for the family and friends of DeGraw during this difficult time.
