A rollover crash involving two children ejected from a minivan contributed to the death of a man who was stuck in the backed up traffic.
Two children, ages 3 and 7, were ejected from a van during a roll-over accident on Eastbound I-96 in Ionia County, Saturday evening.
Police say that the van lost control and left the roadway when attempting to avoid a collision.
Despite being ejected from the vehicle, both children, ages 3 and 7, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to the area hospital for evaluation.
The driver, a 27 year-old female, was unharmed.
Not long after the rollover, several backed up vehicles were struck from behind by a 34 year-old Detroit man.
Investigators believe he was speeding and inattentive.
A 24 year-old Grand Rapids man in the rear seat of one of the struck vehicles died in the crash.
