Christian Bale Accused Of Assault “The Dark Knight” star Christian Bale has been accused of assaulting his mother and sister. Bale’s mother Jenny and sister Sharon told police that Christian assaulted them at a London hotel on
Sunday. But authorities are reluctant to speak to Bale because he’s promoting his new film. “Mr. Bale will be contacted at the earliest opportunity,” police said.
Stars Line Up For ‘Monk’ Milestone Eric McCormack, Howie Mandel, Sarah Silverman, Sharon Lawrence and Angela Kinsey are set to appear in the 100th episode of “Monk” on the USA Network. Also slated to guest star on the
milestone episode are Brooke Adams, Andy Richter and John Turturro, among others. The episode will air September 5th, during the seventh season of the show.
Fallon To Start ‘Late Night’ Online Jimmy Fallon’s debut as the new host of “Late Night” will come online, not on television. Fallon, who will take over the NBC show when Conan O’Brien replaces Jay Leno on “Tonight” next year, will hone his approach in brief Internet shows, appearing online for several months before beginning his stint
on the broadcast show. Leno’s last “Tonight Show” telecast is to air May 29, 2009.
‘Deal’ Going Daily Howie Mandel, the models, the banker and the briefcases on “Deal Or No Deal” are headed for
syndication in September. Players won’t have a shot at $1 million, like on the NBC series, but the 30- minute show airing each weekday will offer $500,000. The TV audience will have a chance to win a $10,000 weekly prize that’s up for grabs via a companion Web site or a call-in number. Mandel will continue to host the hour-long NBC show, which enters its fourth season next month.
Film Critics Ebert, Roeper Leaving ‘At The Movies’ Film critics Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper are leaving their show, “At The Movies With Ebert & Roeper,” the two announced separately. Ebert has been sidelined for the last two years battling cancer. Roeper said his last appearance on the show will be August 17th. He said Disney offered to
extend his contract several months ago, but they could not reach an agreement.
Swayze’s Response To Treatment A ‘Miracle’ Patrick Swayze says he’s doing well with his battle against pancreatic cancer. Swayze announced in March that he was undergoing treatment for the disease. People magazine said he looked “healthy, happy and hot” when he told photographers at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday, “I’m a
miracle dude ... I don’t know why.” The 55-year-old actor also said he was flying to Chicago to work on his new A&E series, “The Beast.”
Bill Murray To Jump From Plane Bill Murray has agreed to parachute from a plane as part of a special appearance at the Chicago Air and Water Show next month. A spokeswoman for the Mayor’s Office of Special Events says the 57-
year-old actor is jumping on behalf of USO of Illinois. The Chicago native will tandem jump with the Golden Knights skydiving team onto North Avenue Beach on August 15th. It is the 50th anniversary of the popular show on Chicago’s lakefront.
Bennifer Expecting Second Child Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are expecting their second child, according to actor Victor Garber. Reports first surfaced earlier this month that Garner was pregnant, but Affleck’s rep refused to
confirm or deny the reports. But now Garner’s former “Alias” co-star, Garber – who officiated the couple’s 2005 wedding – has confirmed the actress is pregnant.
‘Wardrobe Malfunction’ Fine Tossed A federal appeals court has tossed out a fine against CBS over the notorious Janet Jackson breastbaring “wardrobe malfunction” incident during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. The network drew a $550,000 indecency fine from the Federal Communications Commission. But an appellate court
ruled yesterday that the FCC “acted arbitrarily and capriciously” in issuing the fine. Jackson’s breast appeared on-screen for no more than half of a second. An estimated 90 million people were watching the Super Bowl show. The $550,000 fine represented the maximum $27,500 levied against each of the network’s 20 owned-and-operated stations.
Richards-Sheen Custody Battle Returns To Court Denise Richards was in court yesterday seeking changes to a custody arrangement with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, but she didn’t get everything she wanted. Richards and her attorney brought a video to try to bolster their case, but a court commissioner refused to view it. Instead, he listened to two experts’ views and ordered changes to the agreement that were characterized by Sheen’s attorney as
“nothing meaningful.” Richards’ attorney said the changes were beneficial for the pair’s two young daughters. Richards’ attorney also acknowledged that the court commissioner refused to grant some requests during the closed-door hearing, but did not specify.

Amy Winehouse’s Hubby Back In Jail Amy Winehouse’s husband was jailed for 27 months yesterday for attacking a pub landlord and obstructing justice. Blake Fielder-Civil admitted beating up pub manager James King in a 2006
barroom brawl and then offering him $400,000 to keep quiet about it. The London judge told Fielder- Civil he had behaved in a “gratuitous, cowardly and disgraceful” way. Winehouse did not attend the hearing.
Coldplay Tickets Printed On Wrong Paper Ticketmaster wants people who bought tickets to Coldplay’s upcoming concerts in Glasgow, Scotland, to return them, because they were printed on the wrong paper. Customers affected by the snafu have been sent postage-paid envelopes so they can return their tickets to the December 5-6 concerts. There was no explanation as to why the paper they were printed on was important.
Kid Rock Faces The Music Kid Rock has been fined and sentenced to probation after pleading no contest in a battery lawsuit following a fight in a Waffle House last year. Rock and five members of his entourage were arrested
after an October brawl in a Duluth, Georgia, restaurant. Rock’s sentence includes a $1,000 fine, one year probation, six anger management classes and 80 hours of community service.
Johnny Rotten Accused Of ‘Racist’ Attack On Bloc Party Frontman Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke allegedly got into a fight with Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten and his entourage last weekend at a Spanish festival. Okereke said he went up to Rotten backstage to ask a question about his former band, Public Image Ltd., but a member of Rotten’s entourage responded with a “racist tirade.” Okereke and three of Rotten’s posse got into a fight that also included members
of other bands. Rotten said the incident grew out of “jealousy.” The attack left Kele with cuts and bruises on his face. |
